Technical Description

The 2022 FPT DINOMAX is a 5-axis large-format moving-bridge portal machining center manufactured by FPT Industrie of Italy. Engineered for heavy-duty precision machining of large structural components in aerospace, energy, rail, and heavy machinery sectors, the DINOMAX platform is offered in multiple size variants (DMX 1 through DMX 4) with configurable X travels ranging from 3,000 mm to 8,000 mm and Y travels from 2,200 mm to 4,000 mm. The Z-axis travel ranges from 1,100 mm to 1,750 mm depending on configuration. The machine accepts multiple spindle head options including high-speed direct-drive heads reaching up to 34,000 RPM, with power ratings from 18.5 kW to 49 kW and tooling interfaces from HSK-A63 to ISO 50. A chain-type automatic tool changer with 30 to 60 tool positions supports extended unattended machining cycles. The DINOMAX five-axis configuration enables complex contouring and simultaneous multi-surface operations in a single setup, significantly reducing cycle times and fixturing requirements for complex aerospace and energy components. CNC motion control is provided by the Siemens 840D sl system, offering advanced five-axis interpolation, tool compensation, and open CNC architecture. The robust moving-bridge structure delivers the thermal stability and vibration damping required for precision machining at large scale. FPT Industrie's DINOMAX represents the top tier of European large-format gantry machining technology.
