A+Technical Description
The 2014 Fryer MC40 is a 3-axis vertical machining center manufactured by Fryer Machine Systems of Patterson, New York. Part of Fryer's MC Series, the MC40 is a mid-size production VMC delivering a 40-inch X travel suited to a wide range of industrial machining applications. The machine provides X, Y, and Z travels of 40, 20, and 28 inches respectively, with a 20 x 40-inch worktable capable of supporting up to 3,000 lbs. The CAT-40 spindle runs at 60 to 8,500 RPM with 30 HP peak power, providing strong cutting performance across steel, aluminum, and alloys. A 24-station arm-type automatic tool changer allows efficient multi-operation machining cycles. Rapid traverse rates of 1,200 IPM in X/Y and 900 IPM in Z minimize non-cutting time. CNC motion control is provided by the Fryer/Siemens 828-HS system on current production; earlier units were equipped with Anilam 6000M or 6000i controls. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 111 x 86 inches with a height of 110 inches, and the machine weighs approximately 12,100 lbs. The MC40 is well suited to job shop, contract manufacturing, and production environments requiring a reliable American-built VMC with a practical mid-size work envelope.
