Technical Description

The 2016 Fryer SX60 is a 5-axis vertical machining center manufactured by Fryer Machine Systems of Patterson, New York. The SX60 combines a 60-inch X-axis travel with full five-axis simultaneous machining capability through an integrated 24-inch rotary/tilt C-axis table and a tilting B-axis spindle head, enabling complex five-axis contouring of large and complex workpieces in a single setup. The machine provides X, Y, and Z travels of 60, 30, and 35 inches respectively, with a 24 x 67-inch worktable supporting up to 7,500 lbs. The Big Plus CAT-40 spindle delivers 40 HP at speeds up to 18,000 RPM, providing excellent power and speed range for aerospace alloys, titanium, steel, and aluminum. The B-axis tilts to +/-110 degrees and the C-axis provides 360-degree rotation, enabling access to all five sides of a workpiece in a single setup. A 40-station arm-type automatic tool changer supports extended unattended machining cycles. Rapid traverse rates of 1,200 IPM in X/Y and 1,000 IPM in Z maximize throughput. CNC motion control is provided by the Fryer/Siemens 828-HS system with five-axis interpolation. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 161 x 112 x 112 inches, and the machine weighs approximately 21,500 lbs.
