The 2012 Hurco BMC40 is a 3-axis vertical machining center offering a larger machining envelope than the BMC30 family, designed for production of medium-to-large components in job shop and contract manufacturing environments. The BMC40 provides axis travels of 40 inches in X, 20 inches in Y, and 20 inches in Z, accommodating larger workpieces and multi-fixture setups that exceed the capacity of the BMC30 platform. The worktable measures 52 inches by 20 inches, providing a broad fixturing surface suited to production-scale workholding. The spindle delivers 25 HP of continuous power and reaches a maximum speed of 8,000 RPM through a CAT40 taper. This spindle configuration provides the torque needed for aggressive material removal in steel and cast iron while maintaining the higher speeds required for aluminum finishing passes. Rapid traverse rates support efficient tool positioning during complex multi-operation cycles. The 2012 BMC40 is equipped with Hurco's WinMax conversational CNC control, which enables simultaneous conversational and G-code programming at the machine without an external CAM system. WinMax features a large touchscreen display, DXF file import, Ethernet connectivity, and integrated toolpath simulation, making it particularly effective in job shop environments where programming flexibility and fast setup are priorities.
