The 2021 Hurco BX30U is a 5-axis universal vertical machining center designed for simultaneous 5-axis machining of complex geometric forms in a compact footprint. The BX30U features axis travels of 23.6 inches in X, 19.7 inches in Y, and 19.7 inches in Z, with a trunnion-style A/C tilting rotary table providing the additional two axes for full 5-axis simultaneous contouring. This configuration enables complete machining of complex prismatic, contoured, and undercut features in a single setup, eliminating the multiple setups required on conventional 3-axis platforms. The spindle delivers 29 HP and reaches a maximum speed of 18,000 RPM, making it well suited to high-speed machining of aluminum and titanium aerospace components, precision mold cavities, and complex medical device features. WinMax supports both conversational and G-code programming for 5-axis work, DXF and STEP file import, and integrated simulation of complex 5-axis toolpaths — reducing the programming expertise barrier relative to conventional 5-axis CAM-only workflows. The UltiMotion advanced motion control system on WinMax optimizes acceleration profiles for smooth 5-axis contouring and improved surface finish. Machine weight is approximately 8,000 pounds.
