Technical Description

The 2023 Hurco VM20 is a 3-axis vertical machining center designed for high-productivity milling of small-to-medium workpieces in job shop and production environments. Built on a rigid cast-iron frame, the VM20 provides a work envelope of 30 inches in X, 20 inches in Y, and 24 inches in Z, accommodating a wide range of part geometries. The machine table measures 40 by 18 inches, offering ample fixturing area for pallets, vises, and custom workholding. A 20 HP inline direct-drive spindle delivers continuous cutting power through a speed range that reaches 10,000 RPM, supporting both aluminum finishing and ferrous roughing operations with a 40-taper spindle interface. The Hurco WinMax conversational control system reduces programming time through its patented Ultimotion toolpath technology, allowing operators to create complex part programs at the machine using twin-screen graphics without requiring dedicated CAM software. Full ISO G-code compatibility is also supported for DNC or network program transfers. The VM20 is equipped with an automatic tool changer, high-pressure coolant capability, and linear guideways for smooth, accurate motion across all axes. Positioning accuracy and repeatability are optimized through high-resolution encoders and precision ballscrews.
