Technical Description

The 2018 Hurco VMX42 is a 3-axis vertical machining center engineered for high-productivity machining of complex parts across a broad range of materials. Built on a rigid cast-iron base and column structure, the VMX42 provides 42-inch X-axis travel, 24-inch Y-axis travel, and 24-inch Z-axis travel, accommodating large and complex workpieces with ease. The machine features a 50-inch by 24-inch worktable with ample clamping area for large setups. The CAT 40 spindle delivers up to 12,000 RPM with 24 horsepower at peak capacity, enabling efficient cutting across aluminum, steel, titanium, and other demanding materials. Rapid traverse rates and high-speed ballscrews ensure minimal non-cutting time, translating directly to throughput gains on the shop floor. The VMX42 is equipped with Hurco WinMax CNC control, combining conversational programming with full G-code compatibility and an intuitive touchscreen interface. WinMax integrated DXF import, advanced toolpath verification, and built-in simulation features allow operators to program and prove out parts directly at the machine, reducing setup time and dependence on offline CAM software. The automatic tool changer supports up to 40 tools, enabling complex multi-operation jobs without manual intervention.
