A+Technical Description
The 2005 Hurco VMX50-50 is a 3-axis vertical machining center built on the large-envelope VMX50 platform and equipped with a CAT 50 spindle taper for heavy-duty cutting applications demanding high torque and rigidity. The machine provides 50-inch X-axis travel, 26-inch Y-axis travel, and 24-inch Z-axis travel with a 59-inch by 26-inch worktable. The CAT 50 spindle delivers 29.7 horsepower at up to 8,000 RPM, generating the high torque necessary for aggressive material removal in steel, cast iron, titanium, and other demanding workpiece materials. The larger spindle taper accommodates heavier tooling with greater clamping force, improving rigidity and reducing tool deflection in heavy interrupted cuts. The maximum tool weight capacity of 33 pounds supports large face mills, shell mills, and boring heads commonly used in heavy-duty production. Hurco WinMax CNC control provides conversational and G-code programming with DXF import, 3D toolpath simulation, and full CAM post compatibility, enabling efficient job setup and verification at the machine. A 30-tool automatic tool changer supports multi-operation machining without manual intervention. The rigid cast-iron base and saddle construction provide excellent thermal stability and vibration damping over extended production runs. At approximately 20,636 pounds, the VMX50-50 is particularly well suited to heavy-duty job shops, die and mold production, and contract manufacturers machining large steel components where torque and rigidity are primary priorities.
