Technical Description

The 2018 Hurco VMX84I is a 3-axis vertical machining center combining one of the largest work envelopes in the Hurco VMX series with the enhanced performance of Hurco WinMax i-control (MAX5). The machine provides 84-inch X-axis travel, 34-inch Y-axis travel, and 30-inch Z-axis travel across an 86-inch by 34-inch worktable with a maximum table load capacity of 5,000 pounds. The deep 30-inch Z-axis stroke accommodates tall workpieces and deep cavity features without repositioning. The CAT 40 spindle delivers 24 horsepower peak at up to 12,000 RPM, enabling productive cutting across aluminum, steel, cast iron, titanium, and engineering alloys. The WinMax i-control UltiMotion technology dynamically optimizes axis velocity profiles during contouring passes, improving surface finish quality and reducing cycle time compared to conventional motion planning. The WinMax platform provides a high-resolution touchscreen, conversational and G-code programming, DXF import, integrated 3D simulation, and direct CAM post compatibility. A 40-tool automatic tool changer enables complex multi-operation jobs without manual tool changes. The massive cast-iron base and column structure provide excellent thermal stability and vibration damping. At approximately 36,806 pounds, the VMX84I provides the structural rigidity required for precision work on very large workpieces in aerospace, large mold and die production, heavy equipment manufacturing, and defense applications.
