A+Technical Description
The 2012 Leadwell V-40iT is a 5-axis vertical machining center featuring an integrated tilting trunnion table for simultaneous 5-axis contouring of medium-sized complex workpieces. The machine combines a rigid fixed-column structure with a 13.8 inch (350 mm) diameter trunnion platter providing A-axis tilt of plus or minus 90 degrees and continuous 360-degree B-axis rotation, enabling complete 5-sided part access in a single setup. Linear axis travels are 33 inches in X, 25 inches in Y, and 19.2 inches in Z. The CAT-40 spindle reaches 12,000 RPM with 24.8 HP continuous output, providing the speed and torque required for both aggressive roughing and precision finishing in steel, titanium, and aluminum. Rapid traverse rates of 1,417 IPM minimize non-cut time. The Fanuc 0i-MD CNC provides full 5-axis simultaneous interpolation, RTCP tilted workplane support, look-ahead interpolation, and rigid tapping. Maximum trunnion load is 440 lbs at 0 to 45 degree tilt and 200 lbs at 60 to 90 degrees. A 24-tool automatic tool changer enables extended 5-axis programs. Machine weight is approximately 15,432 lbs. The V-40iT is well suited for aerospace impellers, turbine blades, medical implants, and complex mold cavities requiring 5-axis simultaneous contouring.
