Technical Description

The 2015 Makino D500 is a 5-axis die and mold machining center designed for large, complex mold machining requiring simultaneous 5-axis contouring across an expansive work envelope. The D500 features a tilting A-axis (+30° to -120°) and continuous rotary C-axis table with a 19.69-inch diameter rotary pallet, accommodating workpieces up to 25.59 inches in diameter and 19.69 inches in height with a maximum workpiece weight of 772 lbs. Linear axis travels are 21.65 inches in X, 39.37 inches in Y, and 19.69 inches in Z. The standard 20,000 RPM HSK-A63 spindle with 25 HP of continuous power provides the high-speed performance required for hard milling of tool steels and graphite electrode machining. The Makino Professional 6 CNC integrates SGI.5 smooth contouring and advanced 5-axis look-ahead to deliver superior surface finish quality. A 60-tool automatic tool changer supports extended multi-operation programs. The D500 can be configured with optional 14,000 or 30,000 RPM spindles and expanded ATC capacities up to 113 tools for production environments. The overall machine footprint is approximately 139.8 inches long by 114.2 inches wide by 126.0 inches tall, with a machine weight of approximately 34,613 lbs. The D500 is a leading platform for large injection mold, automotive die, and aerospace tooling manufacturers requiring production-scale 5-axis capability with Makino's proven thermal accuracy and contouring performance.
