Technical Description

The 2010 Makino DA300 is a 5-axis vertical machining center built on the proven D300 platform and enhanced with an integrated 2-pallet automatic pallet changer for automated, lights-out production capability. Designed for precision die, mold, and complex component machining, the DA300 provides tilting A-axis (-30° to +120°) and continuous rotary C-axis motion with a 14- by 12-inch pallet. Linear axis travels are 17.72 inches in X, 24.41 inches in Y, and 19.69 inches in Z, accommodating workpieces up to 17.72 inches in diameter and 15.75 inches tall with a maximum workpiece weight of 551 lbs per pallet. The 20,000 RPM HSK-A63 spindle delivers approximately 29.5 HP, providing high surface speed for hard milling of tool steels and precision alloys. The Makino Professional 6 CNC provides SGI.5 smooth contouring, 5-axis look-ahead interpolation, and comprehensive tool and pallet management. A 60-tool automatic tool changer with 0.8-second tool-to-tool time complements the pallet system for extended unattended operation. The pallet system can optionally expand to 26 Erowa pallets, enabling highly flexible automated production scheduling. The DA300 is particularly suited to precision mold, aerospace, and medical manufacturers seeking to maximize spindle utilization through automated part loading without sacrificing the 5-axis accuracy and surface finish quality that Makino's D-series platform delivers.
