A+Technical Description
The 2007 Makino E33 is a 3-axis vertical machining center purpose-built for high-speed graphite electrode milling and precision hard-milling of complex die and mold surfaces. The E33 features a 40,000 RPM HSK-E32 spindle delivering 11.25 HP, enabling the extremely high surface speeds required for fine finishing of graphite electrodes and intricate mold details in hardened tool steel. Axis travels are 25.6 inches in X, 17.7 inches in Y, and 17.7 inches in Z, served by a 35.5- by 19.7-inch work table. The thermally-stable cast iron structure and high-speed linear motion system maintain positional accuracy throughout sustained high-RPM machining cycles. The Makino Professional 5 CNC with SGI.4 smooth geometry interpolation delivers superior surface finish quality without sacrificing program execution speed. A 30-tool automatic tool changer supports multi-operation electrode machining programs. The sealed enclosure with integrated graphite dust extraction provisions protects the machine's precision components from the abrasive environment of graphite machining. The E33 occupies a floor space of approximately 99 inches long by 90 inches wide, standing 119 inches tall, with a machine weight of approximately 16,090 lbs. The machine's combination of ultra-high spindle speed, compact travel envelope, and graphite machining provisions makes it an ideal platform for EDM electrode shops and precision die/mold facilities requiring dedicated high-speed graphite capability.
