A+Technical Description
The 2019 Makino F5 is a 3-axis vertical machining center widely regarded as one of the benchmark platforms for precision die and mold machining. The F5 delivers 31.5-inch X-axis travel, 23.6-inch Y-axis travel, and 23.6-inch Z-axis travel, served by a 39.4- by 19.7-inch work table supporting workpieces up to 2,204 lbs. The standard 20,000 RPM HSK-A63 spindle with approximately 40 HP of peak output provides the high surface speed required for hard milling of hardened tool steels and graphite electrode production. An optional 30,000 RPM spindle further extends capability for fine-detail electrode and aluminum machining. The Makino Pro 6 CNC delivers SGI smooth geometry interpolation, advanced thermal compensation, and comprehensive tool management for superior surface finish on complex mold geometries. A 30-tool automatic tool changer with optional 60-tool capacity supports extended multi-operation programs. The F5's rigid, thermally-controlled cast iron structure ensures sustained accuracy through heavy cutting cycles. The machine occupies a floor space of approximately 121 inches long by 101 inches wide with an overall height of 103 inches, and weighs approximately 16,534 lbs. The F5 has established itself as a preferred choice for precision mold and die shops worldwide, combining substantial travel, high-speed spindle performance, and proven Makino CNC accuracy.
