A+Technical Description
The 2007 Makino V99L is a 3-axis large-format vertical machining center representing the flagship of Makino's V-series high-speed die and mold platform, engineered for precision machining of the largest automotive dies, aerospace tooling, and production molds requiring very long X-axis travel at high spindle speeds. The V99L provides 78.7-inch X-axis travel, 39.4-inch Y-axis travel, and 31.5-inch Z-axis travel, served by a 90.5- by 39.4-inch work table accommodating workpieces up to 4,000 kg. The standard 20,000 RPM CAT-40 spindle with optional 30,000 RPM configuration delivers the high surface speed required for efficient hard milling of large tool steel surfaces and die faces. ATC capacity of 30 tools standard, expandable to 40 or 80 tools, supports complex multi-operation programs over the large work envelope. Rapid traverse rates of 787 IPM minimize repositioning time across the extensive X-axis reach. The Makino Professional 5 CNC provides SGI.4 smooth geometry interpolation, advanced thermal compensation, and comprehensive tool management for sustained accuracy on large, complex mold surfaces. The V99L's massive reinforced structure and thermally controlled column maintain positional accuracy through sustained heavy cutting and high-speed finishing cycles. The machine occupies a floor space of approximately 204.7 by 161.4 inches with an overall height of 137.8 inches, and weighs approximately 57,304 lbs. The V99L is the definitive platform for large-scale die, mold, and aerospace tooling manufacturers requiring Makino's precision at the maximum scale of the V-series.
