Technical Description

The 2007 Matsuura RA-IV is a 3-axis vertical machining center from the Matsuura RA series, the largest platform in the RA dual-pallet VMC family. The integrated twin-pallet APC system enables continuous machining cycles, with each pallet measuring 490 x 1,000 mm (19.29" x 39.37") and supporting a maximum workpiece load of 500 kg (1,100 lbs). Axis travels are 1,021 mm (40.2") in X, 551 mm (21.7") in Y, and 511 mm (20.1") in Z, providing a substantially larger work envelope than the RA-I through RA-III platforms. The BT40 spindle is driven by a 30 HP motor with maximum speed in the 8,000 to 15,000 RPM range, delivering high torque for robust steel and cast iron cutting as well as high-speed finishing of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. A 30-tool arm-type ATC supports complex multi-operation production programs. The CNC control is a Yasnac i80 (Yaskawa), providing EIA/ISO G-code and conversational programming with rigid tapping and standard machining canned cycles. The RA-IV is well suited to medium-to-large precision component production in job shop, aerospace subcontracting, and industrial manufacturing environments where twin-pallet automation and a large work envelope are required.
