Technical Description

The 2016 MIKRON HPM 450U is a 5-axis high-performance machining center from GF Machining Solutions, engineered for simultaneous five-axis contouring of complex aerospace, medical, and precision tooling components. The HPM 450U features a torque-drive rotary-tilting table with a 450 mm diameter work surface, accommodating workpieces up to 150 kg in manual mode, combined with X/Y/Z linear travels of 23.6, 17.7, and 17.7 inches respectively. The B-axis tilts from -120 to +45 degrees while the C-axis provides unlimited rotation, enabling full five-sided access and complex undercut geometries in a single setup. The Step-Tec inline spindle operates at up to 20,000 RPM through an HSK-A63 interface, driven by a 36 kW (approximately 48 HP) motor at S6/40% duty, delivering the speed and torque required for high-dynamic cutting in titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum. Rapid traverse rates of 866 IPM on all linear axes enable fast repositioning across the compact envelope. The Heidenhain iTNC 530 HSCI control provides simultaneous 5-axis interpolation, high-speed look-ahead processing, and 3D tool radius compensation suited to the demanding tolerances of die and mold, aerospace, and medical implant machining. Tool magazine options from 30 to 220 positions support extended unattended operation. At 7,700 kg (16,975 lbs), the HPM 450U combines high structural rigidity with the dynamic performance expected from a Swiss-engineered precision machining center.
