Technical Description

The 2018 OKK VM53R is a 3-axis vertical machining center manufactured by OKK (Osaka Kiko Co., Ltd. / Nidec OKK), a Japanese precision machine tool builder. The VM53R II is a current-production VMC representing OKK's modernized mid-size platform combining the proven work envelope of the VM5 series with contemporary guideway, spindle, and control technology. The machine table measures approximately 41.3 by 22.0 inches, with an optional extended table of 49.6 by 22.0 inches available for longer workpieces. Axis travels of 41.3 inches in X, 20.9 inches in Y, and 20.1 inches in Z provide a well-proportioned three-axis cutting envelope. The standard 8,000 RPM spindle in BT50 taper configuration supports heavy-duty production milling, while optional spindle configurations in BT40 at 14,000 or 20,000 RPM, or BT50 at 12,000 RPM, extend the machine's capability to high-speed aluminum and fine-detail work. Two-surface contact spindle locking eliminates spindle play and improves rigidity at the toolholder interface. The Fanuc 31i-B CNC control provides look-ahead processing, five-axis ready architecture, rigid tapping, and network connectivity for modern shop floor integration.
