Technical Description

The 2018 Okuma MB66VA is a 3-axis vertical machining center representing the 'A' variant of Okuma's MB66V large-format platform, incorporating updated spindle options and drive refinements for improved performance in high-speed aluminum and hard-metal machining. The MB66VA shares the same double-column bridge frame, Thermo-Friendly Concept (TFC) thermal management, and linear guideway construction as the MB66V. The worktable measures 60.24" x 25.98" (1,530 x 660 mm) with axis travels of 59.06" in X, 25.98" in Y, and 25.98" in Z. Rapid traverse is 1,417 IPM (36 m/min) on all linear axes. The standard spindle delivers approximately 10 HP (7.5 kW) continuous with a maximum speed of 8,000 RPM; optional spindle packages at 15,000, 20,000, and 25,000 RPM are available with proportionally higher power ratings up to 22 kW (29.5 HP). The CAT40/BT40 Big-Plus taper is standard. A 32-tool arm-type ATC provides chip-to-chip tool changes in approximately 4 seconds. The Okuma OSP-P300M control features conversational and G-code programming, Machining Navi for chatter suppression, Collision Avoidance System (CAS), and real-time servo monitoring. Overall machine footprint is approximately 128.5" x 115.7" (L x W) with a height of 129.7" and a weight of approximately 24,251 lbs (11,000 kg).
