Technical Description

The 2021 Okuma MB66VB is a 3-axis vertical machining center and the current-generation successor within Okuma's MB66 series, featuring refined spindle motor options and integration with Okuma's latest OSP control platform. The VB generation improves on the VA with updated built-in spindle designs, reduced thermal growth, and enhanced Collision Avoidance System (CAS) capability, while retaining the proven double-column bridge frame and Thermo-Friendly Concept (TFC). The worktable measures 60.24" x 25.98" (1,530 x 660 mm) with axis travels of 59.06" in X, 25.98" in Y, and 25.98" in Z. Rapid traverse is 1,417 IPM (36 m/min). The standard CAT40/BT40 Big-Plus spindle delivers approximately 10 HP (7.5 kW) continuous with a standard maximum speed of 8,000 RPM. Optional 12,000 RPM and 15,000 RPM spindle packages with higher-output motors (up to 18.5 kW, approximately 24.8 HP) are available for higher-speed applications. A 32-tool arm-type ATC performs chip-to-chip changes in approximately 4 seconds. The Okuma OSP-P300M control provides touchscreen navigation, conversational and G-code programming, Machining Navi, CAS, and Okuma Connect Plan remote monitoring. Machine weight is approximately 24,692 lbs (11,200 kg) and footprint is approximately 128.5" x 115.7" (L x W) with a height of 129.7".
