Technical Description

The 2003 Okuma MF46VA is a 3-axis vertical machining center with an integrated automatic pallet changer (APC) from Okuma's MF series, designed for unattended or lights-out production through automated workpiece loading and unloading. The MF46VA combines the precision and rigidity of Okuma's MB46VA platform with a two-pallet shuttle system, enabling one part to be machined while the operator loads and unloads the second pallet station outside the guarding. The pallet measures approximately 29.92" x 18.11" (760 x 460 mm) with axis travels of approximately 30" in X, 22.05" in Y, and 18.11" in Z. The CAT40/BT40 Big-Plus taper built-in spindle motor delivers approximately 15 HP (11 kW) continuous with a maximum speed of 15,000 RPM, enabling high-speed cutting of aluminum and steel without spindle configuration changes. Rapid traverse is 1,417 IPM (36 m/min) on all linear axes. A 20-tool arm-type ATC performs chip-to-chip changes in approximately 4 seconds. The Okuma OSP-U10M control manages all three axes plus the APC with servo drives and absolute encoders, providing G-code and conversational programming, canned cycles, rigid tapping, and Ethernet connectivity for DNC. Overall machine footprint including the APC is approximately 95" x 129" (L x W) with a height of 116" and a weight of approximately 21,385 lbs (9,700 kg).
