A+Technical Description
The 2014 Okuma MILLAC 853PF 5X is a 5-axis large-format vertical machining center from Okuma's MILLAC series, engineered for simultaneous 5-axis contouring of large, complex aerospace structural components, turbine blades, impellers, and precision industrial parts. The MILLAC 853PF 5X features a fixed-table, traveling-column bridge structure with A and B rotary axes (each ±35°), enabling full 5-axis simultaneous interpolation across a very large work envelope. The worktable measures approximately 125.99" x 33.47" (3,200 x 850 mm) with axis travels of approximately 120.08" in X, 33.46" in Y, and 27.56" in Z, supplemented by A-axis and B-axis swivel of ±35° each. Rapid traverse is 1,181 IPM (30 m/min) on all linear axes. The CAT50 taper spindle delivers approximately 75 HP (~55.9 kW) continuous with a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM, providing the power required for aggressive 5-axis roughing as well as high-speed finishing in titanium, Inconel, and aluminum alloys. A 40-tool arm-type ATC provides chip-to-chip tool changes in approximately 6 seconds. The Okuma OSP-P300M control manages all five axes simultaneously with full 5-axis simultaneous contouring capability, G-code and conversational programming, Collision Avoidance System (CAS) for all axes, Machining Navi for chatter suppression, and Ethernet connectivity. Overall footprint is approximately 339" x 179" (L x W) with a height of 130" and a weight of approximately 64,000 lbs (29,030 kg).
