Technical Description

The 2021 OKUMA MILLAC 853PF 5X is a 5-axis bed-type vertical machining center engineered for high-volume aerospace, energy, and structural component machining requiring simultaneous 5-axis contouring. The machine features a large 125.98" x 33.47" worktable with a 6,600 lb load capacity, well-suited to long structural profiles and heavy fixturing. Axis travels of 120.08" in X, 33.46" in Y, and 27.56" in Z provide an expansive cutting envelope for oversized workpieces. The twin-axis tilting/swiveling spindle head delivers full 5-axis simultaneous capability without requiring a rotary table. A 60 HP continuous (75 HP 10-min) spindle operating at up to 12,000 RPM with a No. 50 taper provides substantial torque for heavy roughing in steel and titanium. The machine is controlled by a Fanuc 31i CNC system. Rapid traverse rates of 1,181 ipm in X/Y and 945 ipm in Z keep non-cutting time low. The 30-tool ATC supports uninterrupted production sequences.
