Technical Description

The 2016 OKUMA MU8000V is a heavy-duty 5-axis vertical machining center featuring the largest trunnion table in the OKUMA MU-V series. The 800 mm (31.50") diameter tilting-rotary trunnion table accommodates workpieces up to 1,540 lbs, tilting from +20 to -110 degrees on the A-axis and rotating continuously on the C-axis for full 5-sided access. Axis travels of 36.42" in X, 41.34" in Y, and 23.62" in Z deliver a large simultaneous 5-axis cutting envelope. The spindle provides 40 HP continuously at up to 12,000 RPM through a No. 50 taper, offering the torque needed for heavy roughing in hard materials. OKUMA's OSP-P300M CNC controls all 5 axes with integrated Collision Avoidance System (CAS) and Machining Navi for adaptive process optimization. Rapid traverse of 1,969 ipm maximizes throughput. At approximately 36,900 lbs, the MU8000V is designed for demanding aerospace, energy, and structural component applications requiring large-diameter 5-axis machining capability.
