A+Technical Description
The 1995 OKUMA MX55VB is a 3-axis vertical machining center and the heavier-duty variant of the MX55 series, featuring a larger 50-taper spindle for enhanced rigidity and torque. The 51.18" x 22.05" worktable provides increased Y-width capacity relative to the VA model. Axis travels of 41.34" in X, 22.05" in Y, and 17.72" in Z span a large cutting envelope suited to medium-to-large production components. The spindle delivers approximately 20 HP at up to 6,000 RPM through a BT50/CAT50 taper, offering substantially greater torque than the 40-taper VA variant for demanding roughing in steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. The machine is controlled by OKUMA's OSP-U10M CNC system. A 20-tool ATC enables flexible multi-operation production setups. The VB's heavier construction and larger taper spindle make it well-suited for high-chip-volume production machining where rigidity and metal removal rate take priority over spindle speed.
