A+Technical Description
The 1995 Supermax MAX8 is a 3-axis vertical machining center produced by YCM (Yeong Chin Machinery Industries) as the heavy-duty large-format variant in the MAX series lineup. The MAX8 is built around a 65 x 27-inch heavy-duty worktable with a gear-driven CT50 taper spindle delivering 20 HP for aggressive roughing operations in steel, cast iron, and hard materials. The large CT50 spindle taper supports oversized tooling suited to high-torque face milling, boring, and heavy pocketing operations that smaller 40-taper machines cannot sustain. The machine is constructed on a heavily ribbed cast-iron column and base with hardened box-way guideways on all three axes, providing the structural mass and damping required for sustained heavy-duty cutting. A 30-station side-arm automatic tool changer enables extended unattended programs with rapid tool changes. Fanuc 0M CNC control provides full G-code, canned cycle, and macro programming capability for milling, drilling, and boring operations. The MAX8 represents the maximum capacity end of the Supermax product range from its era, suited to large mold and die production, heavy fixture machining, and structural part manufacturing where table size and spindle torque are the primary selection criteria. Its robust construction has allowed many units to remain in production service decades after manufacture.
