Technical Description

The 2017 Tormach 1100M is a 3-axis compact vertical machining center designed for educational, hobbyist, and light production applications. Produced by Tormach LLC of Waunakee, Wisconsin, the 1100M is an updated successor to the PCNC1100 platform, featuring an improved spindle drive delivering 2 HP continuous power and a maximum speed of 7,500 RPM with R8 tooling. The work table measures 34" x 9.5" and the machine provides axis travels of 18.0" in X, 11.0" in Y, and 16.25" in Z — the Y-axis representing an expansion over the earlier PCNC1100 model. The PathPilot CNC control, Tormach's implementation of LinuxCNC, provides a touchscreen-friendly operator interface with conversational and G-code programming, tool path simulation, and straightforward setup workflows. The machine occupies a footprint of 69" x 56.5" with an overall height of 96" and weighs approximately 1,600 lbs. As a hobbyist and light-duty educational VMC, the 1100M is not intended for full industrial production use but is capable of machining aluminum, plastics, brass, and mild steel for prototype and short-run work. Note: the Tormach 1100M was introduced circa 2018 as a replacement for the PCNC1100; listings showing years prior to 2018 may reflect data entry errors or confusion with the earlier PCNC1100 model. Buyers should confirm the actual model variant from the machine nameplate.
