Technical Description

The 2017 Tormach PCNC 1100 is a 3-axis compact vertical machining center designed for educational, hobbyist, and light-duty production use. Produced by Tormach LLC of Waunakee, Wisconsin, the PCNC 1100 was introduced in 2005 as Tormach's flagship personal CNC mill and remained in production through the late 2010s, when it was succeeded by the updated 1100M. The machine features a 34" x 9.5" work table and provides axis travels of 18.0" in X, 9.5" in Y, and 16.25" in Z. The spindle operates at up to 5,000 RPM with 1.5 HP continuous power and accepts R8 tooling — the same taper used on standard Bridgeport-style mills, making tooling widely available. The PathPilot CNC control (successor to Mach3 on earlier units) provides a touchscreen-friendly operator interface with G-code and conversational programming support. The machine occupies a footprint of 69" x 56.5" with an overall height of 96" and weighs approximately 1,220 lbs including stand. As a light-duty hobbyist VMC, the PCNC 1100 is not intended for full industrial production use but is capable of machining aluminum, plastics, brass, and mild steel for prototype and short-run work. A wide Tormach accessory ecosystem is available.
