Technical Description

The 2007 YCM WV108A is a 3-axis vertical machining center produced by Yeong Chin Machinery Industries of Taiwan, belonging to the WV series designed for die and mold applications requiring extended Y-axis reach beyond what standard mid-size VMCs provide. The WV108A features X/Y/Z travels of approximately 44 x 30 x 27.5 inches, the extended 30-inch Y travel being the defining characteristic of this series, enabling machining of wide workpieces and oversize mold bases without repositioning. The IDD spindle reaches 12,000 RPM with 20 HP of spindle power through a BT40 taper, with ceramic bearings delivering low vibration and extended spindle life for demanding continuous production cycles. The machine’s ultra-wide base on the Y-axis and a double-gib structure provide optimal support for the extended headstock travel, maintaining geometric accuracy across the full Y stroke. The Fanuc MXP-200i control provides rigid tapping, DNC Ethernet, helical interpolation, and full G-code and conversational programming capability. Roller-type linear guideways on all three axes support the extended Y travel while maintaining rapid traverse capability. The WV108A’s extended Y stroke combined with its IDD spindle and Fanuc control made it a preferred choice for die and mold shops requiring greater Y capacity than the standard MV106A or NXV1020 without stepping up to a double-column machine.
