A+Technical Description
The 2007 ZPS MCV 1210 5 Axis is a 5-axis gantry-type portal vertical machining center manufactured by Tajmac-ZPS of Zlin, Czech Republic, designed for the production of complex 3D shapes in demanding sectors including forging die, plastics tooling, automotive, and aeronautical manufacturing. The machine is built around an upper-gantry portal whose frame consists of two sidewalls fastened to the base, providing the structural rigidity needed for high-speed contouring of large and intricate workpieces. Linear guideways are secured to the base for cross-rail Y-axis travel; the protruding cross slide carries the X-axis movement; and the sliding ram provides the Z-axis stroke. All movements are on preloaded linear roller guideways with ballscrew drives and linear position feedback scales for closed-loop accuracy. A built-in motor spindle unit operates at up to 15,000 RPM (18,000 RPM optionally) at 45 HP, enabling full exploitation of HSC (high-speed cutting) technology. A 30-tool ATC with 3.5-second chip-to-chip change allows flexible unattended machining. Axis travels are 39.3 inches in X, 31.5 inches in Y, and 23.6 inches in Z, with 5-axis capability provided by A-axis swivel of 125 degrees. The 47.24 x 39.3 inch table accepts workpieces to 1,540 lbs. The CNC control is the Heidenhain iTNC 530, with the Selca 4045PD available as an option, supporting full 5-axis simultaneous interpolation, RTCP (rotary tool center point), and look-ahead contouring.
