Technical Description

The 2007 Bridgeport XR1500 is a 3-axis vertical machining center produced by Hardinge Inc. under the Bridgeport brand, representing the largest machine in the XR series with a 1,500mm X-axis travel. The machine features a 67-inch by 27.55-inch worktable and a 30-station automatic tool changer. The standard spindle delivers 40 HP (30 kW) at a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM using a belted spindle system; a 15,000 RPM directly-coupled high-performance (HP) spindle option and a 7,500 RPM 50-taper gear-driven (HPD) option were also available. The standard spindle uses a No. 40 taper; the HPD variant uses a No. 50 taper for heavy-duty ferrous machining. X-axis travel is 59.05 inches (1,500mm), Y-axis travel is 27.55 inches (700mm), and Z-axis travel is 24 inches (610mm). The machine is equipped with a Fanuc 18i-MB or Heidenhain iTNC 530 CNC control providing high-speed contouring, rigid tapping, and comprehensive program management. Rapid traverse rates reach 1,417 IPM on all linear axes. The XR1500 is built on a rigid cast-iron base with 45mm linear roller guideways and is designed for large workpiece production in aerospace, energy, and heavy industrial sectors. Standard equipment includes flood coolant, through-spindle coolant, automatic lubrication, and chip conveyor. Machine weight is substantial, consistent with the large-format XR platform. The 2007 XR1500 is supported by Hardinge's global service network.
