A+Technical Description
The 2023 Bumotec S191 V is a multi-axis CNC machining center produced by Bumotec, a division of the Starrag Group specializing in high-precision Swiss-made machining centers for medical, watchmaking, aerospace, and micro-precision industries. The S191 V is a vertical configuration mill-turn center capable of simultaneous 5-axis machining, combining high-speed milling with turning and C-axis operations in a single setup. The milling spindle delivers 8.0 kW in S1 continuous mode (approximately 10.7 HP) and 9.6 kW in S6 duty cycle (approximately 12.9 HP), reaching a maximum speed of 30,000 RPM as standard with an optional 40,000 RPM high-speed spindle available. Tool holding is via HSK-40 interface. Axis travels are 410 mm (16.1 inches) in X, 200 mm (7.9 inches) in Y, and 400 mm (15.7 inches) in Z, with a swivel B-axis providing +115° / -25° of tilt for full five-sided workpiece access. The 90-tool ATC magazine enables extended unmanned operation. Control is provided by the Fanuc 31i CNC platform. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 86.6 x 74.8 x 78.3 inches and the machine weighs approximately 9,260 lbs (4,200 kg). Linear motor drives on all linear axes deliver micron-level positioning accuracy. The S191 V is designed for complete machining of complex precision components in a single clamping, reducing setup time and improving geometric accuracy.
