Technical Description

The 2020 DMG DMU 50 is a 5-axis universal machining center featuring a swivel/tilt rotary table design that enables simultaneous 5-axis machining of complex workpiece geometries. The machine incorporates a direct-drive swivel rotary table with a 630 mm diameter working surface, capable of accepting workpieces up to 300 kg with a B-axis range of -35° to +110° and continuous C-axis rotation. The standard speedMASTER spindle delivers 21 kW of continuous power at speeds up to 15,000 RPM via an HSK-A63 interface, with options available for 20,000 RPM or higher-torque spindle configurations. Axis travels of 650 mm (X), 520 mm (Y), and 475 mm (Z) provide a versatile working envelope suitable for aerospace, automotive, and precision component applications. The machine's monoBLOCK construction offers high rigidity with a compact footprint under 5 m², making it suitable for space-constrained shop floors. A 30-pocket automatic tool changer is standard, with expanded magazine options available. The CNC platform supports Siemens 840D sl with CELOS operator interface or Heidenhain TNC 640, providing advanced cycle programming, process monitoring, and connectivity features. Rapid traverse rates of 60 m/min support high-throughput production environments. The DMU 50 3rd Generation is well-suited for simultaneous 5-axis operations in die/mold, medical, and precision mechanical industries.
