A+Technical Description
The 2005 Doosan VCF 850 is a 3-axis moving-column vertical machining center designed for large-format production machining where the workpiece remains stationary on a fixed table while the column traverses in X. This design allows significantly larger and heavier workpieces to be machined than in conventional moving-table VMC designs. The work table measures 98.4 x 34.3 inches and supports loads up to 3,500 kg (7,716 lbs), with X-, Y-, and Z-axis travels of 78.7, 33.5, and 31.5 inches respectively. The spindle delivers 24.8 HP (18.5 kW continuous) at up to 12,000 RPM, with an 18,000 RPM high-speed option available. The standard CNC control is the Doosan-Fanuc i series, with Heidenhain iTNC 530 available as an option. Rapid traverse rates of 40 m/min on all axes enable fast repositioning across the wide X-axis travel. The VCF 850 is well suited to large aerospace structures, automotive tooling, mold bases, and heavy industrial components requiring precision machining across extended X-axis lengths. Through-spindle coolant and ATC configurations support extended unmanned operations. The machine footprint measures approximately 149.4 x 174.8 inches with an installed height of 126.2 inches and a total weight of approximately 48,501 lbs (22,000 kg).
