A+Technical Description
The 2022 Fryer VB120 is a 3-axis vertical bridge (gantry-style) machining center manufactured by Fryer Machine Systems of Patterson, New York. The VB120 is the largest model in Fryer's VB Series, featuring a 120-inch X-axis travel on a fixed bridge structure that allows machining of extremely long workpieces without repositioning. The machine provides X, Y, and Z travels of 120, 40, and 40 inches respectively, with a 40 x 126-inch worktable supporting up to 6,500 lbs. The CAT-40 or BT-40 spindle operates at 60 to 8,000 RPM with 30 HP peak power, with 10,000 and 12,000 RPM refrigerated high-speed options available. A 20-station carousel ATC or optional 24 to 60-tool arm-type changer accommodates complex multi-tool setups. Rapid traverse rates of 400 IPM in all axes are calibrated for the machine's large mass and long travels. Positioning accuracy is 0.0003 inches with repeatability of 0.0002 inches. CNC motion control is provided by the Fryer/Siemens 828-HS system. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 260 x 120 inches with a height of 120 inches, and the machine weighs approximately 32,000 lbs. The VB120 is particularly suited to long aerospace structural parts, large mold bases, ship components, and energy sector fabrications requiring extended X-axis reach in an American-built bridge-style platform.
