A+Technical Description
The 2019 Fryer VB80 is a 3-axis vertical bridge (gantry-style) machining center manufactured by Fryer Machine Systems of Patterson, New York. The VB80 extends Fryer's bridge VMC line to an 80-inch X-axis travel, providing capacity for large structural parts, long mold bases, and production fixtures in a fixed-bridge architecture that delivers rigidity superior to conventional C-frame designs at this envelope. The machine provides X, Y, and Z travels of 80, 35, and 26 inches respectively, with a 30 x 93-inch worktable supporting up to 5,000 lbs. The CAT-40 or BT-40 spindle operates at 60 to 8,000 RPM with 30 HP peak power, with high-speed refrigerated spindle options to 15,000 RPM available. A 20-station carousel ATC or optional arm-type changer supports multi-tool operations. Rapid traverse rates of 1,000 IPM in X/Y and 600 IPM in Z maximize throughput. Positioning accuracy is 0.0003 inches. CNC motion control is provided by the Fryer/Siemens 828-HS system. Overall machine dimensions are approximately 220 x 110 x 110 inches, and the machine weighs approximately 18,500 lbs.
