Technical Description

The 2019 Kern Micro HD is a 5-axis ultra-precision vertical machining center from Kern Microtechnik GmbH of Germany, engineered for the highest achievable accuracy in precision part manufacturing. The machine provides a clamping area of 13.8" x 8.7" with linear axis travels of 13.8" in X, 8.7" in Y, and 9.8" in Z, with full 5-axis simultaneous contouring capability via integrated rotary/tilting axes. The HSK-25 electro-spindle reaches 50,000 RPM driven by a 8 HP continuous motor -- with an HSK-40 option at 42,000 RPM and 20 HP -- enabling ultra-fine surface finishes on hardened steel, carbide, ceramics, and precision alloys. Heidenhain TNC CNC control delivers 5-axis simultaneous interpolation, RTCP/TCP tool center point control, high-speed look-ahead, and the thermal compensation essential for maintaining sub-micron accuracy. Up to 210 tools can be accommodated with the integrated automation option, enabling extended unmanned operation. Machine footprint is under 5 m2 (54 sq ft) with an overall height of approximately 103.5". The Kern Micro HD is targeted at medical device manufacturers, precision optics producers, watchmakers, and aerospace suppliers requiring the absolute highest accuracy in small-part machining with 5-axis simultaneous capability.
