A+Technical Description
The 2015 Makino F9 is a 3-axis large-format vertical machining center designed for heavy-duty machining of the largest molds, dies, and structural aerospace components. The F9 provides 63.0-inch X-axis travel, 31.5-inch Y-axis travel, and 25.6-inch Z-axis travel, served by a 72.8- by 31.5-inch work table with a maximum table load of 5,511 lbs. The heavy-duty CAT-50 spindle operates at up to 10,000 RPM with approximately 50 HP, with an optional 12,000 RPM configuration for higher surface speed requirements. The Makino Pro 5 CNC provides SGI smooth geometry interpolation, advanced thermal compensation, and comprehensive tool and program management for sustained large-format production. A 30-tool automatic tool changer supports extended multi-operation machining sequences. The F9's reinforced column and base structure, combined with Makino's thermal stability system, maintains geometric accuracy through demanding roughing and finishing cycles on large steel and cast iron workpieces. The machine occupies a floor space of approximately 169 inches long by 161 inches wide with an overall height of 140 inches, and weighs approximately 37,479 lbs. The F9 is the flagship large-format VMC in Makino's F-series lineup, suited to the most demanding large die, mold, and aerospace structural machining applications where travel envelope, torque, and accuracy are equally critical.
