Technical Description

The 2021 Mazak AJV-18 is a 3-axis vertical machining center from Yamazaki Mazak's AJV (Accura Jigmatic Vertical) series, a compact and highly productive VMC platform produced across multiple decades. The worktable measures 900 x 410 mm (35.4" x 16.1") with axis travels of 450 mm (17.7") in X, 420 mm (16.5") in Y, and 510 mm (20.1") in Z. The CAT-40 spindle operates up to 6,000 RPM with a continuous rating of approximately 10 HP, providing versatile cutting capability for steel, cast iron, and aluminum milling, drilling, boring, and tapping. Rapid traverse is 945 IPM on all three axes. The standard automatic tool changer handles 20 tools with fast tool-to-tool change times to minimize non-cut cycle time. The machine runs on the Mazatrol Smooth CNC, Mazak's conversational and EIA/ISO programming platform featuring built-in geometry calculation, tool path simulation, and rigid tapping. Machine weight is approximately 4,500 to 5,000 kg (9,900 to 11,000 lbs) and the overall footprint is approximately 93" x 89" with a height of 111". The AJV-18's compact dimensions, robust construction, and Mazatrol ease of use make it a long-standing choice for job shop and production machining of small-to-medium precision components.
