Technical Description

The 2019 Mazak AJV-35/120 is a 3-axis large-format vertical machining center from Yamazaki Mazak's AJV series, configured as a long-bed traveling-column VMC for machining extended workpieces in a single setup. The stationary worktable measures approximately 3,205 x 751 mm (126" x 29.6") and supports a maximum workpiece load of approximately 2,500 kg. Axis travels are 2,997 mm (118") in X, 800 mm (31.5") in Y, and 508 mm (20") in Z. The '/120' designation refers to the approximately 120-inch X-axis travel class. The No. 50 (CAT-50) spindle taper operates up to 5,000 RPM with a motor rated at approximately 35 HP, providing the high torque required for heavy milling of steel, cast iron, and large aluminum structural components. A 40-tool ATC supports multi-operation programs across the full table length. The CNC is the Mazatrol Smooth, Mazak's conversational and EIA/ISO programming platform with tool path simulation and rigid tapping. The AJV-35/120 is designed for the aerospace, defense, energy, and heavy equipment manufacturing sectors where long workpiece envelopes, high torque, and single-setup machining of complex structural parts are primary requirements.
