A+Technical Description
The 2022 Mazak AJV-50/80 is a 3-axis double-column vertical machining center from Yamazaki Mazak's AJV series, designed for heavy-duty machining of large and heavy workpieces. The fixed bridge column provides exceptional structural rigidity for aggressive material removal on steel, cast iron, and large aluminum components. The worktable measures approximately 2,244 x 1,254 mm (88.2" x 49.4") and supports a maximum workpiece load of approximately 3,000 kg (6,600 lbs). Axis travels are 2,000 mm (78.7") in X, 1,150 mm (45.3") in Y, and 510 mm (20.1") in Z, with the column passage of 1,226 mm (48.3") between uprights. The No. 50 (CAT-50) spindle taper operates up to 6,000 RPM with a motor rated at approximately 35 HP, delivering high torque for robust machining across a wide range of materials and applications. A 30-tool ATC supports multi-operation production programs. The CNC is the Mazatrol Smooth, Mazak's conversational and EIA/ISO programming platform with tool path simulation, rigid tapping, and macro programming support. Machine weight is approximately 18,000 to 22,000 kg (40,000 to 48,200 lbs) and the overall footprint is approximately 295" x 140" with a height of 140". The AJV-50/80 is well suited to aerospace, die/mold, energy, and heavy equipment manufacturing for machining very large structural components in a single setup.
