Technical Description

The 1998 Mazak AJV-60/160 is a 3-axis double-column vertical machining center from Yamazaki Mazak's AJV series, representing the largest platform in the AJV-60 family with an extended 126-inch X-axis travel. The fixed bridge column provides maximum rigidity for heavy-duty machining of very large steel, cast iron, and aluminum components. The worktable measures approximately 3,000 x 1,250 mm (118.1" x 49.2") and supports a maximum workpiece load of approximately 5,000 kg (11,023 lbs). Axis travels are approximately 3,200 mm (126") in X, 1,400 mm (55.1") in Y, and 510 mm (20") in Z, with the distance between columns at approximately 1,500 mm (59"). The No. 50 (CAT-50) spindle taper operates up to 5,000 RPM with a motor rated at approximately 35 HP, delivering high torque for robust machining across a broad range of large-part applications. The CNC is the Mazatrol 640M, Mazak's conversational and EIA/ISO programming platform with tool path simulation, rigid tapping, and macro support. The AJV-60/160 is engineered for aerospace, defense, energy, and heavy equipment manufacturing applications requiring a very large work envelope for machining long, complex structural components and tooling in a single setup.
