Technical Description

The 2000 Mazak FJV-60/120 is a 3-axis double-column vertical machining center from Yamazaki Mazak's FJV series, built for machining very large workpieces with high rigidity and precision. The fixed bridge column with wide Y/Z cross-section and heavy guideway system provides maximum stiffness under cutting forces. The worktable measures 2,240 x 1,250 mm (88.2" x 49.2") and supports a maximum workpiece load of 3,000 kg (6,614 lbs), with the column passage at 1,500 mm (59.1") between uprights. Axis travels are 1,500 mm (59.1") in X, 800 mm (31.5") in Y, and 660 mm (26.0") in Z. The No. 50 (CAT-50) spindle taper operates up to 10,000 RPM with a motor rated at approximately 40 HP (30 kW), providing both high-speed finishing and adequate torque for heavy material removal on steel, titanium, and aluminum alloy workpieces. The CNC is the Mazatrol 640M, Mazak's conversational and EIA/ISO programming platform with high-speed look-ahead contouring, rigid tapping, tool path simulation, and macro programming. The FJV-60/120 is a preferred platform for aerospace, energy sector, and defense manufacturing requiring a wide, tall work envelope — particularly for large structural components, fixtures, and mold bases where column rigidity and Y-axis depth are critical.
