Technical Description

The 1985 Mazak SVC2000L-200 is a 3-axis traveling-column vertical machining center from Yamazaki Mazak's Super Velocity Center (SVC) series, the extended-travel variant of the SVC2000L platform providing 200 inches (5,080 mm) of X-axis reach. Note: the 1985 model year for this listing is atypical, as the SVC2000L series with linear motor drives was not produced until approximately the mid-2000s; specifications below reflect the known SVC2000L-200 production design. Like the SVC2000L-120, this machine uses a stationary table with a traveling column to handle very long and heavy workpieces at high traverse speeds without the inertia penalties of a moving table. The stationary table measures approximately 510 mm (20.1") in width with over 5,000 mm (200") of longitudinal support length. Axis travels are 5,080 mm (200") in X, 508 mm (20") in Y, and 508 mm (20") in Z. The CAT-40 spindle operates up to 15,000 RPM with a motor rated at approximately 30 HP, delivering high-speed cutting performance for aluminum aerospace structures, profiles, and long structural components. Linear motor technology on the X-axis enables rapid traverse rates well beyond conventional ballscrew machines. A 30-tool ATC supports complex multi-operation programs. The CNC is the Mazatrol 640M or Mazatrol Matrix depending on production vintage. The SVC2000L-200 is a specialized platform for aerospace prime and Tier 1 manufacturers requiring single-setup machining of extremely long structural panels, spars, and extrusions.
