Technical Description

The 1999 Mazak V815 is a 3-axis vertical machining center from the Mazatech series, engineered for large-part machining requiring an extended X-axis travel and high structural rigidity. The V815 provides a worktable measuring approximately 88.2 by 33.1 inches and axis travels of 80.0 inches in X, 33.0 inches in Y, and 29.5 inches in Z, giving it the capacity to machine long weldments, large fixture plates, aerospace structural components, and energy-sector parts in a single setup. The spindle delivers 25 HP of continuous power through a CAT-50 taper and reaches a maximum speed of 6,000 RPM, providing torque for heavy roughing in steel while maintaining sufficient speed for semi-finishing in aluminum. A 10,000 RPM high-speed spindle option is available on select configurations. Rapid traverse rates of 945 IPM on X and Y minimize non-cut time during large-workpiece positioning. An automatic tool changer with 30 standard positions (60-tool optional) supports complex multi-operation programs. At approximately 30,800 pounds, the V815 provides the structural mass necessary for dimensional stability across extended machining cycles. The machine is equipped with the Mazatrol 640M conversational CNC, enabling both conversational and EIA/ISO program generation at the operator panel.
