A+Technical Description
The 2014 Mazak VARIAXIS 200 is a 5-axis vertical machining center designed for high-precision simultaneous five-axis contouring of small, complex workpieces in a single setup. Built on Mazak's VARIAXIS trunnion-style platform, the machine features a tilting rotary table that enables the workpiece to be presented to the spindle from virtually any angle, eliminating the need for multiple fixturings and the associated repositioning errors. The worktable measures 19.7 by 15.7 inches and accommodates workpieces up to 19.7 inches in diameter and 19.7 inches in height. Axis travels span 20.1 inches in X, 20.1 inches in Y, and 18.1 inches in Z, with an A-axis tilt range of +30 to -120 degrees and full continuous C-axis rotation. The spindle reaches a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM and produces 20 HP at the sustained duty cycle, enabling efficient material removal in aluminum, titanium, and hardened steel. A 40-tool automatic tool changer and rapid traverse of 1,969 IPM support short cycle times on complex multi-feature parts. At approximately 16,535 pounds, the VARIAXIS 200 provides the structural rigidity required for accurate five-axis interpolation. Note: the VARIAXIS 200 was produced approximately from 2000 to 2005; a 2014 unit represents a resold machine from that era. The machine is controlled by the Mazatrol Fusion 640M CNC, a capable conversational platform supporting five-axis machining cycles and solid-model-based programming.
