The 2022 Mazak VARIAXIS j600 is a 5-axis vertical machining center from Mazak's j-Series, offering an expanded work envelope over the j500 to accommodate larger workpieces while retaining the compact j-Series architecture and high rapid traverse speeds. The VARIAXIS j600 features a rectangular trunnion table measuring 23.6 by 19.7 inches, accommodating workpieces up to 27.6 inches in diameter and 19.7 inches in height with a 1,102-pound load capacity. Axis travels measure 33.5 inches in X, 21.7 inches in Y, and 20.1 inches in Z, with an A-axis tilt range of +30 to -120 degrees and full continuous C-axis rotation. The extended X-axis travel of 33.5 inches distinguishes the j600 from the j500 and enables machining of larger, more elongated workpieces in a single setup. The spindle reaches a maximum speed of 12,000 RPM — with an 18,000 RPM option — and produces 15 HP at the sustained duty cycle, providing flexibility across aluminum, titanium, hardened steel, and advanced alloys.
