The 2020 Mazak VCN 700D-40 II is a 3-axis vertical machining center designed for high-productivity machining of large, complex workpieces. Built on a rigid box-way construction, it delivers a generous X-axis travel of 60.2 inches, Y-axis travel of 27.6 inches, and Z-axis travel of 25.6 inches, accommodating workpieces up to 27.6 inches wide. The 1,740 x 700 mm table provides ample fixturing area for medium-to-large parts. The No. 40 taper high-speed spindle reaches 18,000 RPM and is powered by a 35 HP continuous-duty motor, supporting high-speed finishing as well as aggressive stock removal. Rapid traverse rates of 1,654 IPM across all linear axes reduce non-cutting time. The 24-tool automatic tool changer enables complex multi-operation setups without manual intervention. An integrated chip conveyor and coolant system maintain a clean cutting environment during extended runs. The machine is controlled by the Mazatrol Smooth CNC, which offers conversational and EIA/ISO programming, advanced tool management, and network connectivity for DNC and CAM integration. Mazatrol Smooth's 3D interference checking and SmoothAI adaptive control features improve process reliability and reduce scrap rates. The VCN 700D-40 II is well suited for aerospace structural components, mold and die work, and general job shop production requiring large-envelope 3-axis capability.
