A+Technical Description
The 1999 Mazak VTC16A is a 3-axis traveling-column vertical machining center, the short-travel variant of Mazak's VTC-16 series designed for efficient machining of small to medium-sized components. The traveling-column design allows the column to traverse the X-axis while the table remains stationary, enabling straightforward workpiece loading and multi-part staging without moving the workpiece. The machine features a 35.4 x 16.1 in. worktable and axis travels of 22.05 in. (X), 16.14 in. (Y), and 20.08 in. (Z). The CAT 40 spindle achieves a standard maximum speed of 7,000 RPM with 15 HP of continuous output (11.2 kW), providing adequate cutting torque for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. A 24-tool ATC supports complex multi-operation programs, and rapid traverse rates of 787 IPM (X/Y) and 590 IPM (Z) maintain productive cycle times. The 1999 VTC16A is controlled by Mazatrol M-Plus CNC, providing conversational Mazatrol and EIA/ISO programming with 3-axis contouring and tool life management. The compact traveling-column design and machine weight of approximately 8,800 lbs make the VTC16A an efficient production machine for aerospace, mold, and general precision machining environments where floor space efficiency and multi-part capability are valued.
