Technical Description

The 2020 MAZAK VTC250-50 is a 3-axis traveling-column vertical machining center configured with a CAT-50 spindle taper for heavy-duty cutting applications. The VTC-250/50 addresses mid-size horizontal and vertical workpieces that require high-torque material removal, with the CAT-50 interface delivering up to 280 ft-lbs of spindle torque at reduced speeds. The 24-tool automatic tool changer and 2,600-pound table load capacity support continuous production use with minimal operator intervention. A 2-range gearbox provides low-speed torque for heavy roughing as well as higher-speed finishing cuts up to 6,000 RPM. The Mazatrol 640M conversational CNC control allows operators to create programs directly at the machine without dedicated CAM software, using geometry-based interactive programming. Rapid traverse rates support efficient axis positioning across the full 60-inch X-axis travel. The traveling-column design keeps the workpiece fixed on the long T-slotted table while the column traverses, enabling uninterrupted machining of shafts, plates, and elongated components. The machine is suited to die and mold work, energy industry components, and heavy aerospace structural parts.
